CONTEST RULES & DETAILS
Participants must sign a liability waiver. In the event that a registrant becomes incapacitated, cannot participate as planned, or just plain doesn’t want to participate, contestant substitutions are allowed.
DAY OF EVENT:
Contestants will be picked in a raffle type drawing on the day of the contest. To be eligible for the drawing, participants are required to donate/purchase a five dollar raffle ticket at the Lions Club Water/Information Booth located on the grounds of Harlinsdale Farm between the hours of 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Event is limited to a total of 24 active participants. At 5:00 p.m. twenty four names will be randomly picked and contacted by the cell phone number that is listed on the ticket.
1. Close of registration is July 4th, 2012 at 4:50 p.m.
2. ALL “Hot Dog Heroes” will meet at 5:30 p.m. behind the entertainment stage.
3. Entries will be limited to the first 8 tickets to be picked from contestants in each category. Contestants, known as “Hot Dog Heroes”, will be placed into two categories.
Hot Dog Heroes, 15 - 25 years
Hot Dog Heroes. 26 years & Up
4. Drawing will be conducted by a disinterested party from all accumulated entries. By submitting an entry in the drawing, entrant consents to “Franklin On The Fourth” using winners name(s), likeness, and prize information in publications and media.
5. Taxes, fees, and licenses, if applicable, are the sole responsibility of the winner.
CONTEST EATING RULES:
This event will be a five minute contest sanctioned by “Franklin On The Fourth” and sponsored in part by Elm Hill Meats.
“Franklin On The Fourth” eating rules will be in effect:
Hotdogs & buns are allowed to be separated, dunked, mushed, and mashed in an effort to consume the most hot dogs & buns.
“Hot Dog Heroes” will be given five hot dogs and buns to start.
There will be two 32 oz cups of water for dunking or drinking,
There will be mustard and ketchup on the table for the contestants.
When the last of the five hot dogs is in process of consumption, five more will be placed before the contestant.
Should a “Hot Dog Hero” be observed hiding their hot dogs, dropping them under the table, or placing them on another hero’s plate he/she will be deemed in performance of a “picnic profanity” and will be disqualified.
“Hot Dog Heroes” who suffer a reversal of fortune and/or urges contrary to swallowing will be disqualified (and possibly laughed at).
“Hot Dog Heroes” must keep the hot dogs down for a period of two minutes after the contest.
The “Chipmunking Rule” will be in effect, which means that all food to count must be swallowed 30 seconds after the five minute contest has concluded.
In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by a two minute hot dog eat-off with the winner being the one who consumes the most.
Creative participation is strongly encouraged, but good sportsmanship is required.
Judges will determine final amounts eaten by the total number of complete hot dog and buns that have been eaten.
The Decision by the judges is final!
Each registrant must sign the liability waiver.
LIABILTY AND WAIVER:
I know that eating large amounts of hot dogs is potentially hazardous and is an uncomfortable activity. I should not enter and eat unless I am medically capable and properly trained. I realize that this is in good fun and possibly bad taste, but I agree to be a good sport. I agree to abide by any decision of the contest officials and all of the contest rules. I assume all risks associated with eating in this type of event including but not limited to indigestion, that stuffed feeling, contact with other contestants, and a general dislike for hot dogs after I am done, and all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of you accepting me as a participant (Hot Dog Hero). I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release The Lions Club, the City of Franklin, TN Events, Zia Music Production LLC, Elm Hill Meats, their representatives, and their successors from all claims of liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event.
Contestant has read all of the above rules and agrees to follow them. Contestant also hereby swears that to the best of their knowledge they are physically and mentally fit to compete in this contest.
